Backing Tracks
Upload audio files to play alongside your band during performance — click tracks, synth sequences, orchestral parts, or full backing arrangements.
Song-Level Backing Tracks
Section titled “Song-Level Backing Tracks”Each song can have a backing track attached:
- Open a song
- Go to the Backing Track section in the editor
- Upload an audio file (or pick from Apple Music / YouTube — see below)
- The track is stored and ready to play
Per song, configure:
- Auto-trigger — Start playback automatically when the song begins
- Loop count — Single shot, 2x, 4x, 8x, or infinite loop
- Trim timing — Set in/out points without re-encoding the file. The original audio stays intact; the player respects your trim points on playback.
Step-Level Backing Tracks
Section titled “Step-Level Backing Tracks”If you use song steps, each step can have its own backing track. This lets you trigger different audio for different sections of the song — a string pad for the verse, a synth arpeggio for the chorus.
Per step, configure:
- Auto-trigger — Start playback automatically when the step begins
- Loop count — Single shot, 2x, 4x, 8x, or infinite loop
- Trim timing — Per-step in/out points
Sources
Section titled “Sources”Backing tracks come from two places:
- Direct upload — MP3 or WAV file, max 50 MB
- Existing file — Re-attach a backing track already uploaded to another song or step in this band
That’s the full set of accepted sources today. Apple Music and YouTube searches in the song editor populate the song’s Media URL (a reference link), not a playable backing track. YouTube audio download and stem separation are part of the multitrack subsystem, not the backing-track flow.
Playback
Section titled “Playback”Backing tracks play through your device’s audio output. Use your device’s audio settings to route output to speakers, headphones, or a dedicated monitor mix.
Transport Controls
Section titled “Transport Controls”- Play / Pause — Start or pause playback
- Stop — Stop and return to the beginning
Transport-Synced Start
Section titled “Transport-Synced Start”When the click track is running, backing tracks can be configured to start on the next downbeat rather than immediately — keeping audio locked to the metronome. Toggle Sync to Transport in the backing track settings.
Click Track Integration
Section titled “Click Track Integration”Backing tracks work alongside the built-in click track. The click track provides a metronome at the song’s tempo, while backing tracks play your audio content. Both can run simultaneously.
Enable the click track per song in the song editor. Configure click track settings (sound, volume) in Settings > Audio.
Audio Routing
Section titled “Audio Routing”Configure your preferred audio output device in Settings > Audio. This is useful when you want click tracks in your earpiece and backing tracks through the PA, or when running a multi-output audio interface.
Storage
Section titled “Storage”Backing tracks are stored securely in the cloud and sync across devices.
